Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Dr Amr Helmi Dental Centre collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers both this website and the clinic itself.

The clinic is the data controller. You can reach us on the phone number, address and email at the bottom of this page.

What this website collects

Almost nothing. This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and does not track you between visits or across other sites. There is no login, no account and no advertising code on any page.

The contact form is worth explaining, because it does not work the way most do. Nothing you type is sent to a server we control. When you press the button, your browser opens WhatsApp with the message already written out, and you decide whether to send it. Until you press send in WhatsApp, what you typed has gone nowhere.

Two features load content from other companies, and they can see your IP address and basic device information as a result:

  • The map on our contact page is served by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • The WhatsApp button and the contact form open WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta. Anything you send there is handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy as well as this one.

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service, which keeps standard server request logs including IP addresses for security and diagnostics.

What we collect when you contact us or attend the clinic

  • Your name, phone number and whatever you choose to write, when you message us on WhatsApp or call the clinic.
  • Appointment details: dates, times, and which treatment you are booked for.
  • Clinical records: your dental and relevant medical history, examination findings, X-rays and photographs, treatment carried out, and materials and prescriptions used.
  • Payment records for treatment you have received.

We ask for medical history because it affects what is safe to do. If you would rather not give a particular detail, tell us and we will explain what it is for.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

  • To provide dental care safely, and to keep an accurate clinical record of it.
  • To arrange, confirm and remind you about appointments.
  • To answer the questions you send us.
  • To meet legal, professional and tax obligations that apply to a dental practice.
  • Where we rely on your consent - for example to use a photograph of your treatment result - we ask for it separately and you can withdraw it at any time.

Photographs

Clinical photographs are part of your record and are taken as a routine part of treatment. We do not publish a photograph of you, or of your teeth, anywhere - including on this website or on social media - unless you have given us separate, specific permission. That permission can be withdrawn later.

Who sees your data

Inside the clinic, only the dentist and the assisting staff who need it for your care. Outside the clinic, we share the minimum necessary with:

  • dental laboratories, when a crown, veneer or other appliance is being made for you;
  • radiology or specialist colleagues, if your treatment needs a referral;
  • our accountant and, where the law requires it, the tax authority;
  • a public authority, where we are legally obliged to disclose.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not give it to anyone else without your knowledge.

How long we keep it

Clinical records are kept for as long as is necessary for your ongoing care and to meet the legal and professional obligations that apply to dental records; for adult patients this is normally several years after your last visit, and longer for patients treated as children. Financial records are kept for the period tax law requires. Enquiries that do not lead to treatment are deleted once they have been dealt with.

How we protect it

Paper records are held securely at the clinic. Electronic records are held on password-protected devices, accessible only to staff who need them. If a breach occurs that is likely to harm you, we will tell you and notify the competent authority as the law requires.

Your rights

Under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 you have the right to:

  • know what data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • have anything inaccurate corrected;
  • ask us to erase data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
  • withdraw consent you previously gave, at any time;
  • object to a particular use of your data;
  • complain to the Personal Data Protection Centre if you believe we have got it wrong.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. We will respond as quickly as we can, and there is no charge for a first request.

Children

We treat children. Where a patient is under 18, their record is created and accessed with the consent of a parent or guardian, and the same protections in this policy apply to it.

Links to other sites

This site links out to Google Maps, WhatsApp and Facebook. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not ours.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes affecting existing patients will be raised with you directly.
